Les illustrations ci-dessus sont extraites du magazine « Punch » respectivement daté du 12 octobre 1932 et du 7 décembre 1932.

« Punch » fut un hebdomadaire satirique britannique publié entre 1841 et 1992 puis de 1996 à 2002.

Fondé le 17 juillet 1841 par Henry Mayhew et par le graveur Ebenezer Landells, le journal est d'abord sous-titré The London Charivari  (ce qui est le cas ici) en référence au journal Le Charivari.

En 2002, après 150 ans de publication, la baisse des ventes força le journal à cesser de paraître, malgré une tentative de l'homme d'affaires égyptien Mohamed Al-Fayed de le relancer en 1996, l’expérience  fut abandonnée au bout de six ans. (1)

The illustrations above are taken from Punch magazine, dated October 12th 1932 and December 7th 1932 respectively.

"Punch" was a British satirical weekly magazine published between 1841 and 1992 and again from 1996 to 2002. Founded on July 17th 1841 by Henry Mayhew and the engraver Ebenezer Landells, the paper was originally subtitled The London Charivari (as it is here) in reference to the newspaper Le Charivari.

In 2002, after 150 years of publication, falling sales forced the paper to cease publication, and despite an attempt by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed to relaunch it in 1996, the experiment was abandoned after six years. (1)
