Note pour l’envoi du courrier
–
Note when mailing articles
These recommendations are taken from the April 1937 tariff. I think they must have been valid before and after that date.
1. Correspondence, drawings, photos, etc...that would be detrimental to public safety or morality, explosives, inflammable products, import or export items that are prohibited by law may not be sent by mail. Items addressed abroad, depending on the respective country, may have different requirements. Explain in detail to the clerk responsible for comparing laws.
2. Currency must be insured when mailed domestically.
3. Gold and silver, precious stones, jewelry and other valuables must be insured and sent by registered mail when sent by courier for domestic delivery.
4. Letters cannot be sent as small packages or placed inside small packages.
5. Tobacco may not be sent to Japan.
6. Please write addresses clearly on mail with as much detail as possible.
7. Postal items must be wrapped taking into consideration the distance to the destination, the nature of the contents, etc... To avoid rubbing, pressure, leaks etc... in order to protect the contents 100% as well as to prevent damage to other mail items.
8. On the mail, the place where you write the name and address of the addressee must be white or a light color. It should not be of any dark color. This is to make the recipient's name and address easy to read.
