Croyant que cette enveloppe était une lettre et donc que le montant dû est de 20 fens, le postier appose une marque « T » puis se ravise en apercevant la marque « Imprimé » et après avoir vérifié le montant de l’affranchissement biffe la marque qu’il vient de frapper.
L’expéditeur est un négociant en philatélie. Il était connu et comptait des clients en Amérique du Nord et en Europe. Il utilisait un document publicitaire, rédigé en français et en anglais, qu'il utilisait pour ses affaires (1).

Believing that the envelope was a letter and that the amount due was therefore 20 fen, the postman affixed a "T" mark, then changed his mind when he saw the "Printed" mark and, after checking the amount of postage, crossed out the mark he had just affixed.
The sender was a philatelic dealer. He was well known and had customers in North America and Europe. He used an advertising document, written in French and English, which he used for his business (1).
