L’expéditeur - Cornabe Eckford & Winning - est un chargeur de fret. Cette lettre est adressée à l’un de ses clients. Comme la Chine ne reconnaît pas le Mandchoukouo, cette enveloppe aurait du recevoir un double affranchissement, ce qui n’est pas le cas ici.

Arrivée au bureau de Tientsin, l’enveloppe est frappée d’un « T » indiquant qu’elle est taxée. Un timbre taxe à 10 cents - qui représente le double du tarif intérieur chinois - est apposé et oblitéré.

The sender - Cornabe Eckford & Winning - is a freight forwarder.

The letter was addressed to one of his customers. As China does not recognise Manchukuo, this envelope should have received double postage, which is not the case here.

On arrival at the Tientsin office, the envelope was stamped with a "T" indicating that it was taxed. A 10 cent tax stamp - double the Chinese domestic rate - was affixed and cancelled.
