Postée au bureau de poste d’Harbin Taoli, cette lettre reçoit un premier cachet de recommandé « n°619 ». Mais, vraisemblablement parce que ce numéro avait déjà été utilisé, le postier raye 619 et ré-applique un cachet d’enregistrement « n°620 » (1). Deux jours plus tard, la lettre passe au bureau de traitement du courrier pour l’international de Moukden. Là, elle reçoit un nouveau numéro de recommandé « 327 ». Il est matérialisé par une étiquette qui est collée par-dessus le numéro 620 de Harbin.

La lettre reprend le chemin de Dairen par le train puis, celui de Toronto par bateau. Elle arrive au service des douanes postales le 17 avril  à 8 heures - cachet « NATIONAL REVENUE POSTAL BRANCH - 8 - 17/04/1940 - DUTY FREE - TORONTO Out » - puis passe dans deux autres secteurs postaux à 10 et 14 heures.

Posted at the Harbin Taoli post office, this letter received an initial registered postmark "no. 619". But, presumably because this number had already been used, the postman crossed out 619 and re-applied a "no. 620" registration stamp (1). Two days later, the letter went to the Moukden international mail processing office. There, it receives a new registered mail number "327". This was marked by a label stuck over the Harbin number 620.

The letter travelled by train to Dairen and then by boat to Toronto. It arrived at the postal customs service on April 17th at 8am - stamped "NATIONAL REVENUE POSTAL BRANCH - 8 - 17/04/1940 - DUTY FREE - TORONTO Out" - then passed through two other postal sectors at 10am and 2pm.
