Les courriers provenant d’organismes officiels tels que les Consulats sont assez rares. Nous avons ici une superbe enveloppe qui porte au verso le cachet de cire du Consulat Américain.

La teneur de la correspondance restera mystérieuse. Mais, on peu facilement imaginer qu’elle avait trait aux événements qui s’étaient déroulés - aux USA - au mois d’octobre.

Pour mémoire, le 5 octobre le secrétaire de la marine américaine condamne le pacte tripartite et annonce qu'il rappelle une partie des troupes de réserve. Le 16, début du recensement préliminaire à la conscription dans le cadre du Selective Service Act. Et le 29 les autorités américaines dressent les premières listes pour la conscription par tirage au sort (1).

Mail from official bodies such as Consulates is quite rare. Here we have a superb envelope bearing the wax seal of the American Consulate on the back.

The content of the correspondence remains a mystery. But it is easy to imagine that it related to the events that had taken place - in the USA - in October.

For the record, on October 5th the US Secretary of the Navy condemned the tripartite pact and announced that he was recalling some of the reserve troops. On the 16th, the preliminary census for conscription under the Selective Service Act began. And on the 29th, the American authorities drew up the first lists for conscription by lot (1).
